i wonder how long until he disables the block feature altogether
@dell what did he do now
@dansinker banning people for blocking blue subscribers
@dell @dansinker All…*checks notes* 400 of them.
(* signups since legacy checks went away)
@dell @dansinker I mean, what a fucking loser this guy is. Damn.
@ubiquity75 @dell @dansinker he's also giving blue checks to the people pushing the "block the blue" campaign.
@mmasnick @ubiquity75 @dell @dansinker When you are trolling people by giving away your unpopular product that you've bet your company on, you have to wonder how bad your business judgment has become.
@halfcocked it's wild that Twitter Blue is so bad that they not only can't give it away, but that it's actually being given to people as punishment.
I've been online for almost 4 decades. I've seen a lot. I ain't seen *this* before.
@sysop408 ET for Atari. A product so bad they buried it in a landfill to hide the evidence.
@halfcocked funny you bring that up because E.T. did immediately come to mind, but I'm pretty sure if they gave away copies of that game there would still be takers. I actually owned that game and I didn't think it was anything close to as bad as its current day reputation.
There were far far worse games. They just didn't carry the expectations of a game modeled after one of the biggest summer movie blockbusters of the time.
@sysop408
ET is unfairly blamed for being the "big disappointment that caused the North American gaming crash" - the Atari 2600 version of Pacman was a greater culprit; ET just pushed it over the edge...
@halfcocked
@sysop408 @halfcocked ET was fine if you read the manual. Most people did not read the manual and ended up repeatedly falling into pits which was an exercise in frustration.
@Recta_Pete @sysop408 anything's fine if you do it the way the designer hoped you would do it.
@sysop408 Elon’s nonconsensual blue checking of legacy accounts isn’t punishment. It’s a last gasp attempt to prop up the value of the blue check. It is currently worse than worthless since it is just an indicator of whom should be blocked. This is just an attempt to muddy the waters. #BlockTheBlue
@Bon_Jardin @sysop408 Maybe there is a bit of that but mainly Musk has to confuse Paid and Legacy accounts so that people can't just use Blue Check Blockers to filter out all the #EightBuckSchmuck users.
Browser Extensions like Blue Blocker hide Paid Verified accounts that you don't follow.
I think that countering the #BlockTheBlue campaign is why today all of the accounts with more than a million followers seem to be marked as verified.
It is a battle between twitter users and ownership.
