There’s nothing about being able to make computers go beep-boop that means tech folks are any smarter than you when it comes to anything else. It just means we know how to make computers go beep-boop.

@aral 100% and, speaking a tech person, this is also a good reminder for tech people too, who often perceive their expertise as having reached some sort of peak that doesn't require them to expand their horizons and gain knowledge on different fields and perspectives, usually leading to a sense of unearned smugness and refusal to accept the possibility of being wrong or not having enough information on something to understand it fully, which leads to a very detached, very limited frame of mind.
