No app yet, use it through these sites. Subreddits are called "Magazines". You can interact with magazines from other servers.

Coders help Kbin at codeberg.org/Kbin/kbin-core, non-coders donate at buymeacoffee.com/kbin

@feditips Hey Fedi.Tips, do I need to make a separate Fedi account on kbin.social if I want to post or comment, or is there a way to do it with my mastodon account?

FediTips has moved!

@nyzn

In theory, eventually, you'll be able to comment from Mastodon and follow Kbin accounts and magazines from Mastodon. You can already make a magazine's profile appear on Mastodon, see screenshot below.

At the moment though, the main Kbin server kbin.social is so totally overwhelmed that they've had to activate a protection system called Cloudflare which prevents cross-platform federation working.

So, right now, you'd need to sign up on a Kbin server.

@nyzn @feditips

Kbin also supports at least two post types: Articles and Notes (which they call posts or microblogs)

You can* post a note/microblog to a group from Mastodon, but you can't post an article with headlines and formatting because mastodon doesn't support that.

(* in theory, if it wasn't all broken due to cloudflare and too many users currently)

@feditips@mstdn.social @nyzn@toot.wales I'm sorry but I don't understand how Cloudflare itself could be preventing cross-platform federation. Aren't they doing mostly DDOS protection?

@feditips@mstdn.social @nyzn@toot.wales thanks, didn't know about this. My instance is behind cloudflare and I think it works well. But I did not deploy the under attack mode. I guess it's time to check out cloudflare and tune the settings in the way that it won't mess with federation and if not possible then move away from it.
