Look- I can’t really deal with more than one major crisis of democracy a week. So, France, you have to wait, this is South Korea’s week.

@JonChevreau

I was just thinking the exact same thing.

FFS.

Take a ticket, France!

@alysondecker You have to take into account that ours really is a slow-moving one that started seven years ago at least.

@romromrom Don’t worry, the U.S. has already reserved a week or two in 2025.

@alysondecker Yes, I've noticed the "democracy teetering on the edge" market is far from cornered.

@alysondecker The major crisis of democracy in France was Macron selecting Barnier as Prime Minister a while ago, despite Barnier not even coming close to winning an election.

How's a government losing a confidence vote a "major crisis of democracy"?
Confidence votes are a part of democracy - the parliament can sack the government, basically.

@alysondecker

It's not really a major crisis of democracy this week.

I mean, it's the unfolding of one, but not particularly a bad week in that regard (for once, the institutions worked).
