@_L1vY_ Off-leash dogs are extra exciting when I'm walking our cat. (She wears a harness and and bright belled birds-be-safe collar whenever outside; the neighbors all recognize us.
(edited to remove half-written unnecessary details from a recent encounter)
@JosetAEtzel @_L1vY_ i want to hear about kitty tho
Unless corrected I imagine the cat jumped on her face mid-post.
@dance_along_the_edge @MxVerda @_L1vY_ You're not far off about the cat interrupting me mid-post.
The worst incident happened when we rounded a corner, just to see someone walking with two dogs off leash. One terrier-ish dog sprinted towards us, giving me barely enough time to pick up the cat and put her on my shoulder. The terrier proceeded to start jumping up my legs ... Thankfully the cat stayed calm, the woman got her dog, and no blood was spilled, but it was a very near thing.
@L1vY@mstdn.social Yeah, me too actually. Spouse has racial trauma around dogs. Plus, they once severely injured their ankle from having a very friendly dog hurtling towards them, and they just raised their foot to block the dog from jumping up, and the dog collided hard with their ankle joint. It's not their responsibility to manage other people's dogs and this might help! Xl
Was visiting a relative who's sister & her very large husky mix was living with them. Every time I came to the house, that dog would gallop up and try to jam its nose into my crotch.
I took to putting a foot up to fend it off—and got scolded for "kicking" the dog.
Honey, I had a fresh brown belt at that time; if I'd intended to "kick," that would have been a completely different discussion.
