I hiked to the top of this big rock today in southern (Mt. Monadnock). Glad to make it up safely on this long steep section of trail (class II) as it had turned into a frozen over the winter (top right). Mild temps and light wind made for great weather. Wonderful views at the top in all directions!

These icy sections of are what remained of the in this mountain that hiked earlier this week. The appeared once I got above a certain elevation but was only present below the tree line. Didn’t need microspikes as I could “rock hop” through the sections of ice.

@TimKStanton haven't been up there in years!! Always enjoyed those hikes. Looks like a beautiful day!

@nebriv
Yes, it was a perfect day. The mountain is waiting for you for whenever you are ready to return! 😀 ⛰️

@intrepidhero
Yeah, so amazing. Guessing that nature is just teasing us with this great weather. Will no doubt regress to cloudy and cool soon. 😀

@TimKStanton looks like a great day for a hike!

@jerzone
Yeah, pretty amazing. Low 60's deg (F) at low elevations, 55 deg (F) at the top. Like we went from winter to late spring already! Boulders were generally nice and dry for good traction (except for where there were patches of ice).

@TimKStanton and no bugs?! Get to cherish that for a while.

@jerzone
Indeed! Looking forward to backpacking this spring-- I normally camp just below the snowline, then hike up in the morning with traction over the mashed potato snow to the summit. And, as you say, no bugs!

@TimKStanton Ooh, white arrow! I’ve been wanting to see what the watery section looks like in winter and haven’t gone yet. It looks like you had a good hike today 🙂

@onelin

Yes, it was a great hike. And it felt more like May than March. I was down to my base layer for most of the hike except for the summit where I layered up again. That steep section with the frozen cascading waterfalls was especially beautiful! 😀 🧊

@hikingdude
Yes, ideal conditions for hiking. I also had some nice conversations with other groups of hikers at the top. Everyone was really enjoying the experience. 😀 ⛰️

@TimKStanton So good to watch the changing seasons while you're outdoors.

@theappletree
Same. I enjoy each season and the transitions. 😀

@TimKStanton you have such a beautiful place for trail !

@NoisetteDor
Yes, I feel very lucky to live close enough to the mountains to do hikes like this! 😀 ⛰️

@SirNameless_1
Thanks, Mike! I felt lucky to have captured what appeared to have been a special moment for this hiker. I was having lunch at the summit and then this person walked to the edge of the cliff and stood motionless in this pose, staring out over the valley.
