In the gardens of the Mesquita, the intricate design of watercourses, from orange tree to orange tree.
@Remittancegirl
Humans used to be capable of practical yet beautiful
So nice. To walk there barefoot would be awesome
Such a shame we love concrete and bitumen
So simple and well thought through, and beautiful in its simplicity.
I like that people can see this and think 'Oh, for the trees' and then that makes them feel good, realising that people cared enough to help the trees.
@pascaline also, the sound is important. It goes up to 45c in Cordoba. The sounds of trickling water make one feel cooler @Sable_Shade
@Remittancegirl @pascaline
And soothing
Love the sound of a creek
Hate, HATE getting out of bed when it's raining. Love the sound of the rain belting down on my roof. Love being out in the rain too but if indoors, then bed is best. Close eyes, open ears, enjoy
I sometimes put on the sound of rain on the speakers to help me sleep. I also have one of a fireplace logs and a blizzard outside. But nothing beats the sound of real rain on my windowsill. If it's cold and raining outside, I like to curl up on the sofa with a sleeved blanket And erm, a hot beverage
@pascaline
I laughed at first when I read fire place but I love fire too
The smell, the trippy shapes of flame licks and yes, the sound!!
That cracklery and poppery and pffffting of gases escaped
Never would I ever have thought to get a sound/recording of fire
Never had a blanket with sleeves, tho
@Remittancegirl
Well, I don't like the smell! But with this it's just the sounds, and it helps me sleep, it's so nice with the popping and crackling. It's all in there, with the blizzard and all.
I bought the sleeved blanket a few years ago when I was feeling low, and it helps
@pascaline @Remittancegirl
I'm never happier than when camping
I used to have an old (old old) army issue grate-coat. Made of good old (scratchy) wool
The type that stops just short of your ankles. No need for a tent in the cold or even rain, just snuggle up close to the fire and usually a dog curld up at your back and mebee, just maybe, a skin full of the old medicinal
The smell of wood smoke and the crikkle crakkle of the fire give me the best sleep
@pascaline @Remittancegirl
And ah, I bet your sleeved blanket gives you the comfort that my ol' coat gave me
Man, I really miss that coat
One of the things I would still like to do is travel with someone in a camper, like a little home on wheels, and stop in gorgeous locations. I would like it but I think it will never happen anymore.
I used to have a small army jacket they sold at the army dump store, made of wool, it was very warm but also very itchy!
@pascaline @Remittancegirl
That's where I got mine, the old army disposal store
I also had one of the shorter ones, like you mention, they were all the rage and much sought after.
Don't give up on your gallivanting
You don't have to have a big ol' house on wheels
I've seen some really well kitted out mini-vans that have bed, under bed storage, swing out kitchen, and awning for sitting under
Feel like hitting the road myself now
There is no better feeling than no lawn to cut and nowhere to be
@pascaline @Remittancegirl
Get outa town! It just started raining
Well that's me then
Off to bed and enjoy
G'night to you both
@Remittancegirl @pascaline
When you say gardens of the Mesquita, do you mean the great mosque?
I also like how the earth is not cut off, smothered from the world.
All those crevices, cracks nooks and crannies for water, air and miniature civilisations
The soil able to breath, the roots able to spread
The more intelligently efficient we get, the stupider we become
Yes, I was feeling that too, the earth is so often cut off and with this it's relatively open, and then the water trickling, as @Remittancegirl says. It's so good.
@Remittancegirl The poetry of function.
@acmeworks Yes. This so much!
