Going to download Wikipedia to an e-reader, then retreat to a remote Irish island where I can copy it out as an illuminated manuscript whilst empires collapse and warlords plunder the world.
@Nickiquote Don't forget that a proper illuminated manuscript has obscene doodles and the occasional moan about working conditions worked into the margins.
A bit like some of the comments I left in code I wrote nearly 20 yrs ago, which I almost guarantee is still in use today
@Nickiquote can i come help, i’ll bake cookies
@Nickiquote You’ll need to find a good local vellum supplier.
Don’t forget to add a few vicious murdering rabbits in the marginalia
@Ericthebeeover2 @Nickiquote and snails. lots of snails
A good source of such goodies is @medieval_illuminations . viz:
@Nickiquote
As long as you realize just how much of your remaining days will be spent copying out an argument about the correct way to place toilet paper rolls.
Edit: they've trimmed it! My disappointment is immeasurable.
@Nickiquote Sorry. In canaduh, you're not allowed to scrape. It must be organic only. People need to post. I've made several avenues available.
Please do. tecreations.ca --- Please check it out first, before posting. Thank you!. : Tim
@Nickiquote Beware of the Vikings in about 400 years.
@Nickiquote This is the best fucking plan. I'll join you.
@Nickiquote@mstdn.social stealing my ideas now
@Nickiquote@mstdn.social ah, the Book of Lolls
@Nickiquote this sounds like a job for @kiwix
@tsrono @Nickiquote Yeah we're unexpectedly short on ink, quills, parchment and candles these days.
Best we can do atm is provide free downloads ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@Nickiquote My current problem: I don't have a e-reader with 100-odd GiB of free storage.
I also need to source a large sticker saying “DON'T PANIC”. Likely red, and with everyone's luck, it will be Comic Sans.
@Nickiquote Looking forward to seeing the illuminated manuscript cover the history of Crazy Frog. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crazy_Frog
@Nickiquote it will be very meta when you reproduce the article on illuminated manuscripts
@Nickiquote You have inspired me. Same, but Project Gutenberg. Or Hathi Trust, which has some really good old documents but some really bad scanning quality.
Don't forget to learn astral projection!
