@jeffowski
Hahaha laugh of the day I'm so glad I could boost it for being alt texted
@MostlyTato — so what you’re saying is that you’re one of these people that will bitch or not share content for not having alt-text but you don’t volunteer and do alt-text yourself?
I don’t know you but I already despise you if this is the case.
@jeffowski
I'll not bitch, I won't share if its not alt texted and its not my place to do someone else's alt text. However, its entirely my prerogative and no-one else's to determine what I will or will not share, and to state my reasons for doing so if I so wish.
@MostlyTato — but you’ve just admitted that you segregate messaging on social media based solely on alt-text.
Segregating and isolating people by not participating in adding alt-text and limiting what sight-impaired persons are allowed to see on social media is not the white-hat savior position you think it is.
@jeffowski
I defend no-one, nor race to their rescue.
I do not engage by admonishing people for not adding alt text, but I reserve the right to curate my own timeline by not boosting it.
I don't add my own alt text because that is effectively negative reinforcement, which I've found generally doesn't work.
I prefer to boost those who use alt text and not boost those who don't.
@jeffowski
My comment was an observation as a result of how many people appear to post text based images without alt text.
But that doesn't mean I feel its my place to provide alt text in those circumstances. Making the observation does not equate to adopting the responsibility for policing others actions by way of negative reinforcement.
How people act is up to them. How I curate my timeline is up to me. Its not my place to defend anyone.
But that doesn't mean my observations are invalid.
