#Germany's Foreign Office has updated its travel advisory for the U.S., saying that visas and entry waivers don't guarantee entry for German citizens.

Over here in the UK they have issued warnings also…

@GottaLaff Bit polite and nowhere near sufficiently cautionary, especially for women and trans people, or those who have had any kind of name change.

As a result of a discussion with @Wyatt_H_Knott I strongly suggest not contacting any friends you have who emigrated to the US
If they contact you keep everything bland & neutral & do not mention that they are immigrants to the US in your replies
There's a good chance cross border communications are monitored
@staringatclouds @Wyatt_H_Knott @GottaLaff I’d even suggest getting a burner phone, only putting in a couple of very necessary numbers, no social media etc on it. Use it for any visit and give that number to the US authorities. Keep everything else away from them.

Here soon the US State Department will probably issue the same warning for Americans.
Leaving the country for travel? Citizens are no longer guaranteed re-entry. We're locking this thing down!
