This is a blatant effort to get career people to leave so can replace them with loyalists. And, given his track record in his own business dealings, it’s not hard to imagine him looking for a way to renege once people are out.

@GottaLaff@mstdn.social

Include a disparagement clause that's got broad interpretability.

@GottaLaff so much this. It's a way to fill the govt with loyalists and boot lockers without having to litigate it.

@HistoPol Well, to be fair, a bunch of us were all right about that.

@GottaLaff

#USpol #TrumpCoup

Very true, and even though I had expected most of this, it is something else to see the ("separately") expected speed with which #Project2025 progresses, all in parallel...

I can give kudos to the #OrangePeril for one thing only: his stamina at his age.

@HistoPol I fully expected this speed and intensity. It's why we moved.

@GottaLaff

Same, I just thought, it'd take him more weeks...

I did not see the reclaiming of the #PanamaCanal, #Canada as the 51st US state (;)), and the #GreenlandPurchase (or else) coming, though, I have to admit.

Next-level insanity.

@GottaLaff this fork in the road seems to be a lot like an existing program called VSIP that pays employees to resign/retire with up to $25k or the severance pay due, whichever is less. So I bet the employees who resign will get less than they think - typical trump MO.

@GottaLaff for the individual civil servant, this is a difficult choice. On the one hand you can safely assume you're gonna be replaced by a Trump loyalist. But on the other hand: what other option do you have to refuse to carry out his policies? Keeping in mind that today, 80 years after WW2, civil servants working for Dutch tram- and railways are accused for collaboration, for transporting Jews to Westerbork, the Dutch concentration camp. I really don't know what my choice would be...

@GottaLaff

And a total waste of taxpayer dollars. You're going to pay TWICE as much to do the job for several months. Then the new people will do it less effectively.

And you can bet your bottom dollar that this won't be properly funded and the people who leave will get screwed.
