@kevinrns @GeriAQuin You won't find a link because that's fake.
Which makes me wonder at Russian bots. This story is "nearly true" 88 F-35s will pribably not be bought, but rhe Cabinet has not issued a decision yet.
We only know that PM Carney has said pause any purchase, review choices, considering the American Crisis.
So why make a post that's nearly true? Might be true later?
Is it to rack up points of "they boosted a lie" or to pretend that F-35s are still in rhe running?
Why make it into a falsehood?
And pay Sweden in steel and aluminum.
Tariff breakers.
Canada Strong.
@GeriAQuin smart. If bloatus blocks the gripen engine they lose the rest of the f35 order too
@GeriAQuin seems like fake news. Canada hasn’t changed anything to their order.
@GeriAQuin This is false, PM Carney ordered a review of the F-35 program. We are legally bound to buy the first 16 of 88.
As much as I'd like to see Canada go with the Gripen, it hasn't happened yet.
Not-buying would be a criminal matter?
Or just a cancellation fee?
How much, compared to taking on the White elephants?
@RoyBrander @GeriAQuin The way it was explained, 16 of them can't be halted without breaching the contract.
The Canadian Air Force has resisted the idea of having two sets of aircraft because of logistical and training challenges.
So it sounds like if we followed the termination rules of the contract, we would still be stuck with 16 F-35s and still have to maintain them and train pilots on them.
Well, we know who really knows the Art of the Deal.
But it doesn't matter ,save to accountants. I think the population sees this as existential; it's like asking if we could afford covid vaccines.
The military will have to suck up flying two, and we'll have to suck up the bill.
But we can get our satisfaction by having the pilots trained on both give a long series of 1-star reviews to the "Fuckin'35" ("I kiss the gound after every flight". It could get funny...)
