Transgender Heroes Date Back To The Civil War!

Military records show that Melvin Bean, Samuel Blalock, John Burns, Albert D.J. Cashier, Lyons Wakeman and Frank Thompson fought on American battlefields during the Civil War.

They went on to be called heroes by their generation.

@TheGiftofGab Gab, you are most welcome. Thank you for being a reader of Aure Free Press! - Aure

@Free_Press

I am trans & I love historical research into our past.
That said, several of the women you mentioned were not trans men & it would be wrong and an affront to feminism to appropriate and erase their gender as such. Trans men did fight in the war, such as Albert Cashier. But not all AFAB who assumed a male identity and fought were trans. And with some we'll never know.

@Free_Press There were a lot of trans men in the Old West. I kind of get the idea that they were just accepted for who they were.
