A Eurasian Reed Warbler (Acrocephalus scirpaceus) at RSPB Middleton Lakes last month, near to where I watched a singing Sedge #Warbler earlier the same day. Both birds, uncharacteristically, perched where I could photograph them, although this one did keep his head behind that reed stem most of the time!
A Sedge Warbler singing his heart out at RSPB Middleton Lakes today - and from a perch where I could see and and photograph him! Other birds watched or sighted at the reserve included an equally cooperative Reed Warbler, plus Avocets, a Redshank, Cuckoos, and a Bittern.

This elusive little fellow is a Prothonotary Warbler. They are named after yellow robes supposedly worn by particular high ranking religious figures.
