The Ngondro practice is an entryway into the Vajrayana. This series of Sunday classes will provide an introduction to this practice.
This month’s session will focus on the Four Thoughts that Turn the Mind towards the Dharma. These are designed to awaken our wisdom, and bring clarity about the value of our life and its potential for spiritual transformation. The Four Thoughts are:
1. the uniqueness of human life
2. the ever-presence of impermanence and death
3. the infallibility of the cause and effect of our actions
4. the vicious cycle of frustration and suffering that is samsara.
These reflections inspire a strong sense of “renunciation,” an urgent desire to emerge from samsara and follow the path to liberation and the awakening of the wisdom and compassion of our true nature.
Once we arouse genuine renunciation, the path of awakening will unfold swiftly, joyfully, and effortlessly.
