Silver linings from the collapse of the old turkey house last night:
1. It was expected, and the turkeys were in the shed instead.
2. I no longer have to worry about trying to pre-fabricate the new house and can just build it in situ.

As the turkeys grow, they develop a wicked curve to their beaks, but you can see some of the layering looking close which makes you want to envision them like a seashell growing layers on the outside edge when it's really the other way around, growing from the base like your fingernails.

Currently have a house turkey. Injured youngster needed a place to rest. Seems to be improving.

Scared the new little hatchlings. Think they thought a kaiju had come for them. Adjusted quickly though and found them climbing on and pecking at the patient older sibling the next morning.

The squirrels were putting on a show, but nothing brings the family together like birdwatching.

These cats are kind of shallow, though, and judge birds on size: the bigger the bird, the more interesting. A poor chickadee or titmouse is below notice, but they get a bit excited for mourning doves and blue jays.

So this was the most fascinating thing they've ever seen. :blobcatcheer2:

Today I gave our #turkeys and #ducks a solar-powered shower (as I needed to move the last remaining rainwater across the garden anyway).

I hope you enjoy the clip as much as they enjoyed the water!

Also, they will be absolutely delighted about anyone who is so kind to mark any pictures of their deceased brethren as sensitive and/or tag them as #food, #meat or #thanksgiving, so they can filter out any upsetting posts from their human's feed!
