Rev. Eric Burrows-Stone ⳨<p>The longer I live within, study, and watch the ecclesial scene, the more I have become convinced over the years that any real hope for a effective and fruitful <a href="https://deacon.social/tags/ecumenism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ecumenism</span></a> (that really will issue forth reunification of Churches) is going to be found in the episcopal system (i.e. <a href="https://deacon.social/tags/catholic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>catholic</span></a> <a href="https://deacon.social/tags/orthodox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>orthodox</span></a> <a href="https://deacon.social/tags/anglican" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>anglican</span></a> traditions). Not gonna lie, I'm a loyal cradle #Anglican but I'm also a raging protestant in the model of Cranmer himself so I really struggle with the #Chrism thing. I accept oil-anointing as a Biblical activity but I find no basis for the idea that it must be done with specific, special oil. And yet, I am also persuaded that much (most?) of the Spirit's work is a mystery to us and that my more Catholic brothers and sisters have glimpsed things of God of which I know not.
