I finished Junichiro Tanizaki's The Makioka Sisters in a marathon session on my flight back from Tokyo.
Fantastic book, but I didn't expect that after 562 pages, it would end with this sentence.

#vendredilecture d’un #Ishiguro que je ne connaissais pas : « An artist of the floating world » de #KazuoIshiguro (#石黒一雄), paru en anglais en 1986, deuxième et dernier de son œuvre situé au Japon après « A pale view of hills » de 1982. Dans un style qui laisse penser à #Tanizaki (sauf que #Ishiguro n’a jamais rien écrit en japonais) il fait raconter son narrateur très peu fiable de sa vie d’après-guerre de père de famille, et on comprend vite que tout ce monde lui échappe complètement. 1/3
