With powerful groups right now actively seeking to ban books, teaching of its history, or how the system still exists and functions.</p><p>One example of many, is an estimated 20,000 forced <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/sterilizations" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>sterilizations</span></a>, mostly of BIPOC in <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/California" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>California</span></a> (by reputation America's most socially progressive state), between 1909 and 1979 when its <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Eugenics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Eugenics</span></a> program officially ended; however, that number may be an underestimation.</p><p>Destroying people, places, and things takes far less energy and time than it does to build or repair; and before we build or repair, we require an honest appraisal of the facts.</p><p>So the problem is nobody can fix a problem they deny even exists.</p>
