In the south of Amsterdam, squatters have moved into an empty building on Honthorststraat. It belongs to the Russian government and had been unused for a long time. The four-story corner building once housed a Russian tourist office.
The squatters call themselves international artists who can’t afford housing. In a letter to neighbors, they explain they are from countries like Russia and Ukraine. They believe it’s wrong for such a large building to stay empty.
The building is known for its location and history. The action has drawn attention from passersby. Tourists can spot it by the posters and signs in the windows, and by the beautiful artworks.

Another “KBTR” at NDSM. “KBTR” is a graffiti-gnome from the city of Utrecht, based on a traditional garden gnome. The name comes from ‘KaBouTeR’ (Dutch for gnome). KBTR is the artist’s graffiti tag, not a general term for gnomes. These gnomes are known for their red hat, white beard, and ever-changing appearance.”
A ‘cartoonish spraycan’ bySket185, born Sven van Hermon. Sket started in 1984, using names like BASIC, JEL, and SET. After a brief break due to an arrest in 1988, he returned with renewed energy.
Sket is part of the “Multi Syndicate Crew” (MSC).
He’s worked with artists like OXALIEN (in this pic on his right), EDO RATH, ZASE, and NILS WESTERGARD on multiple pieces.
“Aparte 911” is a creative collective focused on graffiti and street art, known for their innovative and thought-provoking work. Their portfolio spans diverse styles and mediums.
This angel-like figure is to be found at “NDSM” in between the “IJ-Hallen”.
A standout project by Aparte is the “LEGO Manifest,” where cracks and gaps in city structures are filled with colorful LEGO bricks. It adds a playful touch to the streets while drawing attention to urban decay and creative restoration.
