To the guys who keep coming to our house offering to get rid of the spiders... yes, there are #spider webs on our house. This is because we keep our house outside in our yard. That's where the #spiders live. On the list of things that we need to fix about this house, poisoning the #wildlife is pretty low on the list.
I miss having golden silk orb-weavers in my garden.

This cute jumping spider (#Carrhotus xanthogramma) loves warm places. In Germany it is only found in the southern half of the country.

Spiders are very sensitive to vibrations, it's how many of them hunt. So they aren't big on background #noise, it drowns the signal they actually look for. Adaptation - #spiders living in urban/loud environments make webs that dampen persistent noise.
Beats earplugs.

Yesterday as I sat under the willow, taking my break, having a fag, a fly landed in my hand. Rubbed its proboscis, rubbed its wings, scuttled about a bit, flew off. Hovered a bit zipped here and there, another fly appeared and did the same.
It was bout twice the size of a standard house fly but was striped black and yellow, with nice patterns on the back.
Interesting.
Spiders are hatching! Happy May! I saw a bunch of cross orb weaver spiderlings starting to make their way out from the egg sac. And then, laying in wait on the fence behind them the largest bold jumper I’ve ever seen. Looking for a snack? #arachnodon #spiders #bugs #nature #pnw
ICYMI:
Regal jumping spiderlings become skilled hunters through continuous practice from the moment they leave their mother's silk nest.
This KQED Deep Look video shows their development from tiny spiderlings with 8 eyes and fledgling fangs to confident predators capable of taking down larger prey through months of self-directed practice.
