Nope. Trump has already floated the trial-balloon of renting out detainees as labour, plus the 13th Amendment in their constitution actually permits slavery for incarcerated persons, so they have their legal loophole.
You watch: once the camps are all set up the next move for the administration to say: “Welp, it’s only fair that all these illegals should have to contribute to the cost of their upkeep” and for the prison-industrial complex to start leasing detainees back to the farms, motels and Home Depots that they scooped them up from, for a tidy profit of course.
This is the intersection where end-stage capitalism meets white supremacy. Corporations despise paying for labour, since it represents one of their biggest line-items, and you can’t get cheaper than free (or nearly free).
Whatever can’t be automated will be replaced by slave labour, and the neat thing about prison labour is that anyone can be turned into a criminal with the simple stroke of a pen.
