James Akers<p>On a family trip to a wedding in Sonoma County California, I finally got to see something I have always wanted to see- the Redwood forests.</p><p>Since a child, I have always been fascinated with rainforests. This one collects its moisture from the fog rolling in off of the Pacific Ocean which provide water for an entire ecosystem below. The moss an mushrooms were in no short supply and there were numerous traces of fires from just 5 years ago. </p><p>These smaller fires actually help the redwood trees regrow and clear out the underbrush.
