LionelB<p>I like this Rhodotypos scandens a lot. The sharp veining to the leaves, the lax habit and the flower are a close parallel of the Kerria. This flowers just a little later.</p><p>The four petals are a very striking feature. elbowcrooker<p>Amelanchier Lamarckii or Juneberry </p><p>Beautiful white blossom now appearing alongside the bronze coloured juvenile leaves.<br>These turn green as summer progresses&nbsp; then orange and red in autumn. The flowers are followed by small berries in mid summer, which turn from green to red to blue/black if the birds don't get them first. LionelB<p>This is one of my favourite plants. There was once a time when it was so common in gardens that it was viewed with snobbery. Too easy to grow. Too bright.</p><p>It is Kerria. I hardly ever see it now. I grow it in what passes for a tiny woodland clearing.</p><p>When first planted, the crows reacted furiously to the flowers and did a wrecking job. The shrubs planted in <a href="https://biologists.social/tags/parks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>parks</span></a> in Germany are the hybrids Forsythia x <a href="https://biologists.social/tags/intermedia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>intermedia</span></a>. It is a hybridization of the species F. suspensa and F. viridissima. As a result of €globalwarming, the flowering period in Central Europe is shifting further and further forward.
