Tossing this into the void: field recording of a malfunctioning escalator in the Porto Metro. Maybe I'll do something with this someday.

(Photo for attention - this was a separate incident when the metro flooded. They had everything back in operation within hours. #notmyphoto)
3206 AR: King Ardurras slain (Ustalav)*
The Last King of Ustalav, was slain at the Battle of Dawnmarsh. He was reanimated as the grim jongleur called the Shrieking Sovereign.

Anyway, take that energy with you for your day.
A wild wailing shriek
issued forth
from the mouth
of a craggy cave
entrance crusted
with stalagtites and mites
bared like a snarl.
A single bat
flit-fluttered
into the night.
i am emptied of all meaningful thought
just a corridor
where the clatter of a plate
or the scraping of a chair echoes,
shriek sharp,
cutting the eardrums
and scrambling the space behind the
eyes
cluttered alphabet tumbling loose and
clacking
against my chattering teeth

Enduring
The shriek of a small child
Who awakens
Christmas morning to see
The tree transformed
By profusion of gifts
Brightly enticing the hem of
The skirt modestly concealing
Her barren ankles
The sharp delighted squeal
That escapes vocalizing
Shocked surprise when
Playfully splashed with
Frigid creek waters droplets
Drying quickly in the hot
Sun of summer
Daddy’s home! Yelled
High pitched giggled peals
Emitted heartbreak sob interspersed
Dot leader scattered between
Welcomed warming snuggles
Sharp pinprick pain needles
Penetrating vaccine dispensed
The sudden yelp involuntary sting
Quickly forgotten in the cheer
Of the subsequent prize the
Sugary lollipop proffered
Plopped soothingly orally calming
I have borne witness to
Each of these and more now carefully
Tucked away indelibly stored where
Delineated memory resides
Afflicts my days of
Impermeable silence
Solitude imbued
Ceaseless
Eternal
echo
echo

Lost
And last
Found in
The wild
Gales,
The last
Shriek
Of wind,
At the
Terminus
Of winter.
Bearing portent,
Speaking verse,
Vision fails
In the seeking,
Past
Buried in
Cursed
Ground.
The prairie winds howl
reminding us that the land
will never submit.
When your shriek of joy
Is as head-splitting
As your scream of frustration
Then we put away our words.
I nestle my split pieces between
Noise-cancelling headphones
To do the easiest thing ever done,
Which is loving you.
he cried
she sighed
he moaned
she groaned
he shouted
she pouted
he yelled
she welled
he frowned
she gowned
he ordered
she bordered
he commanded
she demanded
he complained
she retained
he chased
she faced
he retreated
she defeated
he fought
she taught
he squeaked
she shrieked
he hit
she quit
it ended
upended
A sharp shock
Cold slicing our skin
Sound emitting fast
From open mouth
Blood-curdling
A banshee wail
Ripping from lips
High-pitched
The sound berserker
Human siren

He heard the sound once more, and looked out from his front porch into the thick fog before him. In the distance, he could barely make out a silhouette as it let out a shrill inhuman scream. He felt as if he had heard the sound before. The figure was slowly coming closer. The first details he could make out were the horns, twisted and menacing. Then, the creature rushed towards him and let out another #shriek.
It was then that he realized that the neighbors goats were out again.
A tale of friendship
Between donkey and ogre
Until I realised, I read the word wrong
Two lines. Two dreaded lines that I didn't want to see today, or at all. I let out a loud shriek of disbelief. After carefully avoiding it for two years, today was the day that I too would become another statistic.
Now for me, it's back to bed.
Cobwebs dust darkness
Protesting shrieking hinges
Attic treasure found

In the darkness of the fields
Still cold steel lies waiting breathlessly
Silhouettes of trees brace on the rise.
Just ine more.
The train shrieks through the world
Air and fire burst explode onwards
A firework illuminating the night.
Wakeful riders peer into the blur.
The night was still
Still and heavy
Heavy was his heart
Heart that beat a drum
‘Drum up the courage’
Courage to dig up the corpse
Corpse! Not living! A ghost! The #shriek!
Shriek that could wake up the dead
Dead but screaming! Nothing
Nothing can calm his mind
Mind haunted by those memories
Memories in his soul, and in this grave
Grave is the solution
Solution to end the guilt forever
Forever he must lay dead and haunted
Haunted by the woman that he killed
