Bass Rock seen from the superb beach at Seacliff in East Lothian, a place that comes complete with a ruined castle and a contender for the title of Scotland's smallest harbour. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/northberwick/seacliff/index.html
The superb beach at Seacliff, three miles east of North Berwick in East Lothian. This place is also home to a remarkable, tiny, harbour and the almost hidden ruins of a castle, plus amazing views of another. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/northberwick/seacliff/index.html
The amazing - and amazingly small - harbour at Seacliff in East Lothian. This was created in 1890 using a steam engine and compressed air to carve the harbour out of solid rock. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/northberwick/seacliff/index.html

The mighty main wall of Tantallon Castle in East Lothian, seen from Seacliff. It is built across the neck of a rocky headland surrounded by cliffs. The castle's origins date back to the mid-1300s and it saw three centuries of conflict. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/northberwick/tantalloncastle/index.html

Nice and sunny 13 mile bike ride this morning from Seacliff State Beach to Manresa State Beach and back. The photo is from Manresa State Beach looking north-west across the bay toward Capitola (CA) and Pleasure Point.

Another overcast day on the California Central Coast at Seacliff State Beach.
Some people like foggy and overcast weather. Mostly I think that's heresy.
Photo 1: The sun is teasing me.
Photo 2: The remains of the SS Palo Alto and in the background are Capitola and Pleasure Point.
For those that don't know. There was a pier that ran out to the remains of the SS Palo Alto that was destroyed in the storms in January.

Views from New Brighton State Park during a water break on the bike ride this morning.
Left: New Brighton State Park looking south toward Seacliff State Beach.
Right: New Brighton State Park looking north toward Capitola and Pleasure Point.
Pleasure Point is one of the better surfing spots in the Santa Cruz area. If you look closely, surfers and paddle boarders can be seen in the right photo.
Seacliff State Beach on our daily Alie dog walk.
It's always interesting to see the sculptures that people make out of the driftwood. An act of artistic serendipity that brings joy to the walks.
Left: Remains of the cement ship Palo Alto and driftwood sculptures. The pier that was damaged in the January storms has been removed.
Right: Seacliff driftwood sculptures looking southwest. The Moss Landing power plant towers can be seen in the distance on the left. The Palo Alto is out of picture to the right.
Cement ship at Seacliff Beach : Nov 2022 (top) vs. June 2023 (bottom).
The pier is gone and cement boat is broken-up and sinking more. Storms of 22-23 were brutal for Seacliff

Humbug Mountain from the south. An impressive headland and a scenic spot from which to view it. Southern Oregon coast, March 1984.
