With the disclaimer that because I happen to be very preoccupied with the making of my own goddamn new music I don’t really concern myself with trying to keep up with all the new releases*, I think my favorite new album this year just might be the new Sparks “The Girl is Crying in Her Latte.” Incidentally it also happens to be the first album by them that I enjoy all the way through. As a singles band I absolutely dig them since the first time I heard “Angst in my Pants”, but as an album band, they’ve never been my cup of joe. Age, imo, has done good things for their otherwise mega, mega up-up-up all-the-time “extraness.”
