In addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined below, the Senior Legal Researcher must have a strong understanding of public health legal and policy issues, commit to demonstrating and deepening that expertise, and contribute to research and writing on topics related to health policy and health law. The Senior Legal Researcher must be able to facilitate meetings, organize events and be adept at project management. We are looking for an attorney who wants to be part of a team that has a passion for health policy and law. The Senior Legal Researcher will manage grant administrative duties in regard to the ChangeLab grant. Act for Public Health (A4PH): The Senior Legal Researcher will manage CHPL’s portfolio of work within the Act for Public Health (A4PH) project. Working in collaboration with the CHPL faculty director and managing director, the Re Senior Legal Researcher will lead all litigation tracking efforts, draft and disseminate alerts and communications related to the project, represent the CHPL team at project leadership meetings, and ensure project deliverables and expectations are met. The Senior Legal Researcher will lead CHPL’s work on convenings, conferences, and presentations, supervision of interns, presenting at conferences, and fundraising. The Senior Legal Researcher will assist in drafting reports for the project. Center for Health Policy and Law (CHPL) The Senior Legal Researcher will assist CHPL as needed, including in events, budgeting, grant proposals, and building coalitions and partnerships. The Senior Legal Researcher will work in collaboration with other members of CHPL, NUSL, and partner organizations including the Institute. Public Health Law Watch: The Senior Legal Researcher will oversee PHLW and all its related components, as well as serve as the point of contact and liaison with the George Consortium. Duties include content creation for and maintenance of the PHLW website and social medial platforms; oversight of all appropriate listservs; communications and outreach for PHLW and the George Consortium; George Consortium subcommittee work, including meeting scheduling, agenda drafting, and staffing needs. In collaboration with CHPL and the George Consortium, identify and pursue opportunities for collaboration and/or funding. The Senior Legal Researcher will manage the grant administration responsibilities. The Senior Legal Researcher will be expected to contribute to and lead George Consortium mobilization efforts. Duties also include supervising student interns and research assistants as necessary. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: JD with 2 years experience as an attorney. Demonstrated experience in research and project management skills Knowledge of public health law and health policy Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to collaborate, facilitate meetings, and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and exceptional organizational skills with the ability to organize time and priorities, including multiple tasks and deadline pressures. Ability to maintain open and consistent communication and offer expert guidance on project elements and deliverables as needed. Must be self-directed, able to make independent decisions Preferred Qualifications: MPH or verticals in health law are pluses At least 1-2 years of grant writing and administration experience is preferred.
