Made tacos tonight, from a hard shell kit. There's usually a piece of waxed cardboard folded in with the shells to make them a bit less crushable. Now it's apparently a piece of plastic. Cardboard was good enough for years, El Paso. Why make the world a bit worse? #peeve

If you make a peripheral that accepts commands and returns data (like SPI Flash, say), you *will* provide a command that will verify communications has been accomplished by providing a command to store an arbitrary piece data and another that retrieves that data. (A scratch register, in short.)

Failure to provide such functionality would be punishable by imprisonment.

Goddamit. I thought that for once, or maaaybe twice, in the 19 years I've been running Linux, that this one time an upgrade from one version to the next had gone fine. Things looked good. Then now there's very obvious graphical glitches in Gnome Settings and Nautilus. Ugh. Guess I'll have to do a clean install yet again. This must be my biggest annoyance with Linux right now, I think.

Well, one of the oldest #complaints about it is its #stupid binary #logging system. "Instead of paging your way through /var/log/messages, just run journalctl !" they say.

But if you run #journalctl, it'll start at the beginning of the log. For this machine, that's a few months ago. I want to get to "now", so hit `G` ... and wait for literally *minutes* for it to parse through the whole bloody thing.

Code in posts complaining about C++ is quite often actually/largely C code.

I get the need for "Last boost..." posts* (because no quoteposts) but they make little sense any place other than the poster's profile feed.

They make little sense in public timelines, including followers' home TL:
- (lots of) intervening posts from others
- can't navigate to poster's profile feed to the "Last boost" post to see what they boosted

* Posts that say "Last boost" with thoughts on someone's post they just boosted, but no link to boosted post.

#Peeve: In #movies and #shows, ppl of any fitness level can dig graves big enough for anyone using just a shovel: no sweat: no relief, break, assistance; in dbl quick time; clothing in tact.

That too at arbitrary locations w no thought to access, visibility, or even how unsuitable the spot might be: What if there's a large rock after a foot or so.

I get it's all make believe but bothers me that no writer/director is interested in making it even a tiny bit more plausible.

Anyway, moving on.
