In this new open access article published on the cover of the journal Near Eastern Archaeology, Dr. Peter J. Cobb and Dr. Juuso H. Everyone Likes #Reading. Why Are We So Afraid of It? #Book#ans, #chatbots, #pedagogical #warfare: What it means to #read has become a #minefield. The #ReadingCrisis reverberates at the higher reaches of educational system too. As #CorporateManagement models, #zealous #State Legislatures refashion the #academy into a #gated #outpost of the #GigEconomy, humanities have lost their luster for #undergraduates - fewer and fewer students are #majoring in #English nytimes.com/2023/06/21/books/r

So I've got their #fpga code in another window and I'm trying to break it down into a series of #testable steps that I could have done and doing it that way while trying not to just type it in. This will teach me a lot, but I don't think was the #pedagogical intent.

progress pics; 4-shaft Bronson lace sampler.
I'm a little over halfway through my first sample; there are 8 samples in the project.
Then I'll take it to school and my wonderful, meticulous instructor will praise all the things I did right and gently note all the things I did wrong.
(To anyone who teaches for a living, I strongly recommend taking classes in something you are Not Very Good at. Valuable experience.)

Hi everybody! Here's a FORRT #introduction

I've posted quite a lot on Twitter and on my professional blog about #SocialAnnotation as a #pedagogical practice for increasing student #engagement in reading and discussion, particularly in #hybrid and #remote instructional modalities. The research (and, let's be frank, marketing) team at #Hypothesis has just released a white paper that synthesizes a lot of the research that supports this tool.

It's worth a read if you're already using tools like Hypothesis, #Perusall, or #Kami or if you're looking for new tools to use in your classroom.
