Tip #691

Translate text pasted into the Translate Panel automatically.

Vivaldi Translate helps to broaden your horizons and make sense of content that hasn’t been written in languages that you speak. When you paste text into the Translate Panel, instead of getting the translation only after clicking the Translate button, you can enable a setting that shows you the translated version immediately.

To enable automatic translation:

  1. Go to Settings > Panel > Translate Panel.
  2. Enable “Translate when pasting text”.

Trump moves to gut more agencies, targeting Voice of America, libraries, clean energy and National Monuments

Trump has signed an executive order seeking to eliminate several additional federal agencies, including one that oversees the federally funded media outlet
⭐️Voice of America (VOA),
🔥testing the limits of his authoritative power as he seeks to shrink the size and scope of the federal bureaucracy.

One order signed Friday night calls for the agencies
— some of which are focused on #minority business enterprises, #museum and #library services and #homelessness prevention
— to “be eliminated to the maximum extent consistent with applicable law.”

It also instructs the heads of agencies to “reduce the performance of their statutory functions and associated personnel to the minimum presence and function required by law,”
and submit a report to the Office of Management and Budget director #Russell #Vought confirming full compliance within seven days.

A second executive order revoked 19 executive actions signed by President Joe Biden that promoted #clean #energy and environmental goals.

The order terminates proclamations of #national #monuments created by Biden
and ends the use of the Defense Production Act to expand the U.S. manufacturing of clean energy technology
(including mandates for electric heat pumps and #solar #panels),
among other Biden-era policies

The Washington Post · Trump moves to gut several agencies, targeting Voice of America, librariesBy Brianna Tucker
Replied in thread

@wall0159 @smallsolar I wonder if you can pick up a #recycled #doubleglazed window panel to make the heater box? There are plenty of foam panels available now to #insulate the sides and back of the box now. Even the local hardware stores sell them here.

The insulating the pipes into and out of the house.

Hmmm... folks I think you are onto somthing!

The other thing I have seen folks #experiment with was passing a small garden irrigation pipe along the back of #solar #panels to cool them down.

Continued thread

Tip #611

View completed tasks in the Tasks Panel with one click.

There’s no better feeling than marking a task complete and seeing it disappear from view. To revel in that nice feeling some more, you can bring all completed tasks back into view and admire all you’ve accomplished. Or, in the unfortunate event, mark a task as incomplete again.

To view completed tasks:

  1. Open the Tasks Panel.
  2. At the bottom of the panel, click on “Show Completed Tasks”.

Tip #610

Reopen closed Web Panels instead of adding them again.

Adding new Web Panels is pretty straightforward in Vivaldi, but when it’s a Web Panel you’ve already had on your browser’s sidebar, it’s even easier to restore it.

To reopen a Web Panel:

  1. Right-click on one of the Panel buttons.
  2. Select “Closed Web Panels”.
  3. Click on the closed Web Panel you want to add back to the sidebar.

Tip #606

Sort your browsing history by page title, address or view count, in addition to chronologically.

You don’t need to go through your browsing history in chronological order to find a visited web page, though, admittedly it’s easier to find the page when you start seeing other pages you visited around the same time.

To sort history in the History Panel:

  1. Open the History Panel.
  2. Above the list of entries, click on “Sort by Date”.
  3. Select between:
    • Sort by Title
    • Sort by Address
    • Sort by Page Views.
  4. Optionally, switch sorting from ascending to descending or vice versa.

To sort history in the History Manager:

  1. Open the History Manager.
  2. Click on the column header you want to sort by.
  3. Click again to reverse the order.
