The Bishop’s Palace is Kirkwall’s oldest surviving domestic building, dating from the early 1100s. Monissa<p>In another place, I'm doing a thread of islands I've visited, because it fits my username. One photo every day or so. But sometimes an extra photo slips in that I can't use (because one photo per island) so I'll have to share it here.</p><p>St Tredwell's Loch, on Papa Westray, one of the smaller islands of Orkney. I don't know why a lake on an island seems so odd, but it does. Maybe because of how close it is to the sea. (You might be able to see the strip of blue sea behind the loch.)</p><p>Photo is taken from St Tredwell's Chapel, the ruins of a Medieval chapel built over Iron Age remains, or an overgrown bunch of rocks on a hill.
