Als Deutscher, zu dessen Geschichte Holocaust und Kriegsschuld gehört, finde ich das verstörend. Dass die indigene Bevölkerung bis heute deshalb leidet, aber dass die Assimilation gescheitert ist.</p><p>Das Bild zeigt ein Pow Wow zum <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/OrangeShirtDay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OrangeShirtDay</span></a>, bei dem Überlebende des Systems der Residential Schools, aber auch Menschen, die an intergenerationellen Traumata leiden, Heilung und Erleichterung erfahren durch den Tanz der neuen Generation.</p>
MarkG<p>I watched Returning Home, which is a documentary about Orange Shirt Day founder Phyllis Jack-Webstad. It was good. </p><p>It had a slightly different tone from what I was used to, in that a lot of emphasis was put on concerns of the land (particularly salmon), rather than solely put on the emotional issues surrounding residential schools. Welbog<p>Had a good conversation today with my coworker about my <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/orangeshirtday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>orangeshirtday</span></a> shirt, how in school the subject of residential schools were never talked about. I mentioned the power of being in the position to write the history books. He mentioned that in his country the history books make no mention of the holocaust when covering WWII, so when he moved to Canada and learned about it for the first time it was a shock.</p><p>Choosing what history gets a focus is a kind of power I think about a lot.</p>
