Essentially it's a very low bass <a href="https://the-crossroads-inn.com/tags/ocarina" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ocarina</span></a>, and I mean LOW as in 65Hz or C2. It's also a percussion <a href="https://the-crossroads-inn.com/tags/instrument" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>instrument</span></a> similar to the udu or ghatam, or both at the same time even. The decoration is terra sigillata and some cleverness involving blowing bubbles onto the surface (please help me describe that for the alt text). I'll write some more about it later, including audio; y'know, once I've spent some time with it.</p>

ordinoides<p>Teaching myself the ocarina is going well. I've almost memorized which fingering goes with which letter goes with which place on the musical staff. I can (slowly) play any song that stays on a single staff from lower C to upper F. <br>I practice when I think I'm alone, but nothing is guaranteed... apologies to anyone who heard me toot and warble "Red River Valley" Frere Jacques" and "Scarborough Fair" last night. <br>Also! I think I lucked out that the ocarina I bought at a toy store, modeled after the one from the Zelda game, is actually a tuned and playable instrument. Reading today that a lot of them are not, they are just props or toys. Different perspectives can do that. Incidentally, apparently dungeon synth with some acoustic instruments in the mix is called "forest synth." However, this little thing, featuring udu and Budrio Do1 (AKA Italian soprano C) <a href="https://the-crossroads-inn.com/tags/ocarina" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ocarina</span></a> is again all-acoustic, so no clue what the genre name changes into, but OK, have some forest non-synth then. <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://the-crossroads-inn.com/@khomus" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>khomus</span></a></span>, what have you done!?</p>

Cassana 🍻<p>I'm forever tinkering with mic placement to capture instruments accurately. I was not planning to share, just experiment (hence the included phone notification), but I think this is the best attempt at <a href="https://the-crossroads-inn.com/tags/recording" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>recording</span></a> the Innato so far. FYI, it’s a triple-chambered <a href="https://the-crossroads-inn.com/tags/ocarina" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ocarina</span></a> with one sound port facing forward, the other two facing diagonally back left and right. Three mics could work, but that'd be messy and awkward; having to hold a breakable clay flute motionless within a mic-cable-stand labyrinth.</p>
