One could possibly be forgiven for assuming that #FOSS couldn't have really taken off until the #Internet reached a certain critical mass, and that it had only done so in the final decade of the 20th century. Bit of a stretch… Whatever. 
But wow, they actually said that #NASA started in the late #90s? Literally the most famous thing NASA ever did (not to mention the most watched live TV broadcast in history) was the #Apollo11 moon landing on July 20th, 1969 — a date etched on the timeline of major historic events, right between D-Day (June 6th, 1944) and September 11th, 2001.
I wasn't at #fosdem, but by any chance were the keynote speakers you mentioned perhaps just super-young, or maybe from a #NonWestern culture, where the specific details (like names and dates) of western-centric historic events aren't emphasized in schools? 
On the other hand, maybe they're just typical rich, entitled #TechBros, and #ChatGPT wrote their keynotes for them.
