Plated and served: 🍽️✨ Our Ancient Courses Napkin Ring is a sculptural tribute to the legacy of the Mississippi River — whose waters, ever responsive to the forces of nature, have altered course, yet never ceased to carve their way forward. 💪🌊🌿✨

A River Runs Through It: 🎺⚓🦢🚢

Introducing our brand new heirloom napkin rings: inspired by ancient paths of the Mississippi River across thousands of years of its geological history.

We created these pieces by carefully hand-tracing historic meander maps of the Mississippi with pencil on vellum, re-tracing each river digitally, then interweaving them manually to create the models for casting.

These are the first pieces in an ongoing collection celebrating the rhythms and grace of natural geography shaped by the passage of time. Designed to honor familiar landscapes, this series aims to ground social gatherings in the shared terrain that connects generations. 🎆🎇

In other news about people with links to Chicago and 1910s New Orleans.... disgraced baseball great Shoeless Joe Jackson, seen here at Pelican Park, New Orleans, 1910 shortly before he went into the major league, has been removed from Major League Baseball's ineligible list, allowing him to be considered for induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

RIP New Orleans character Al Scramuzza, 1927-2025. Best known as owner of "Seafood City", produced creative low-budget commercials for local television - if you lived in New Orleans in the 1980s and had a tv set, you likely saw the linked one and other similar repeatedly. He also had is own "Scram Records" label, recording local R&B talent including Eddie Bo, Johnny “Little Sonny” Jones and Walter “Wolfman” Washington.

Okay, yeah, you all know that I don’t share any information that might identify me. Not in this America. Still, some things are more important than #privacy. So here is a nugget.
Funnily enough, we are all full blown #atheists.

Anyway, please read a #NYT #GiftArticle that includes my closest relative & friend #MarkRoudané about historic #NewOrleans, #Creole culture, #FamilyMythology & the deep weirdness of “#passing”.

Organizers of April's National #Hurricane Conference in #NewOrleans canceled several #FEMA-led sessions - including one aimed at helping #emergency managers make #evacuation decisions during #hurricanes - after FEMA staff dropped out due to the travel restrictions, said John Wilson, chair of the conference.

Wilson said the director of the NHC usually speaks at the conference about lessons learned from past hurricane seasons & shares forecasting model updates, but did not this year.
