Still ~6.5 months until I start as an Assistant Prof., but I've just finished version 0.1 of "The CoReACTER Manual", the starting point for organizing the group I'm founding! I don't even know how many hours I put into this, but I'm relieved to be done (for now). (1/3)

Seems like we are having a lucky streak:
- Franzi is about to submit her PhD thesis 
- Felix received excellent feedback on his first paper
- Simon is producing tons of exciting new simulation results
- Dimitris finally started his PhD adventure here in Hohenheim
- Rémi accepted our job offer and is planning to join the #ecoevo #modelling team in March
- ...and even my little coworker is in an excellent mood!

Oof. I feel so stressed. So many projects were supposed to be done before the winter break (haha) but they ALL decided to develop a life of their own and haunt me during vacation.
Argh. Sigh.
(But: the biggest goal for this year was to simply stay in the game and keep my group running, together with my little coworker, and we totally nailed that!)
I remember feeling terribly nervous before job interviews. Let’s be honest, it’s an awful feeling. But I never realised the other side might be equally nervous. Choosing the *right* person for a given job is so much more difficult than I thought. And that person also has to match with the rest of my team, otherwise it won’t work. Exciting times ahead!

Submitted! One more then I'm done the whirlwind of studentship & grant applications! Then back to papers... do peer reviews, consult, admin, oh and also figure out why the new fluor microscope is giving a weird washed out image (in the occular itself). #NewPI

Some #professionalNews. Last week I've started a #newJob as #assistantProfessor (tenure track) in #biostatistics at my Alma Mater, the University of #Turin (#UniTo), Department of Clinical and Biological Sciences.
It's been tremendous: meeting new people, joining terrific research projects, and fitting in some old ones.
Looking forward to a lot of years of new and exiting #openScience 
Note for future reference and work life balance: do not, I repeat, do not agree to submit two grant co-aplications in the same deadline.
