Mika
I normally don't get stopped at police roadblocks but I was stopped twice tonight - the first time I actually was (fortunately) sent back home (which fortunately again, was just 5 mins away) to retrieve my ID first which I didn't bother carrying cos really I just wanted to send my partner back home and wasn't planning on encountering a roadblock 😮💨

Enough about the roadblock tho, this post is actually a complaint/rant about the fucking #JPJ app (and a lil bit on #iOS). I've the setting on iOS enabled where it automatically uninstalls apps that are rarely used, while retaining the app data. I've always found it stupid that #Apple does not allow you to manually flag an app to be excluded from this automatic rule, because obviously there are some apps that you need at all times but don't necessarily open/use frequently - let me fucking keep these apps installed, and enforce that auto-uninstall rule on anything else. Because of this, I had to fucking stop by the roadside (while the cop waited) to install it. That wasn't the end of it, the app forced me to update it before I could even access it, and I had to wait for all that some more.

As if that wasn't enough, JPJ has a stupid fucking rule where it forces u to update your password every who knows how fucking long, but one thing for sure I know it's insanely frequent cos this is the third time it's happened to me (tho first, during a police stop) despite rarely ever using the app. So I had to reset my password, wait for the fuckin' TAC and all that crap until I finally was able to get inside the app. The cop was kind enough to wait, and advised me to keep a screenshot of my digital driver's license and car road tax - so I don't need to go thru the hassle of the JPJ app.

It's not the first time I've heard of that advice but I've always thought it's ridiculous to rely on a solution as janky as keeping a self-made screenshot for proof of my license to drive, and that the car could be on the road. As much as I criticised the #MySejahtera app throughout the entire pandemic, at least that shitty app had the idea of implementing a simple feature of exporting your COVID-19 vaccination records into a neat, little PDF for display when required. Folks at JPJ have never had that thought, I'm sure.
