My most recent fusion was in 2019 and involved two screws to attach the calcaneous heel bone to the talar bone above it. The screws are each 7 mm diameter and about 70 mm long and I’ve had to have them removed because they were pushing through the flesh at the back of my heel making it hard to walk. Here is the photograph of the x-ray. The plates and screws above are from previous fusions and are not causing any problems at the moment.This is the results of a midlife crisis involving a Kawasaki GTR 1000 touring bike.
