Matthias KochLe Tanargue, c'est une colonne vertébrale plantée dans le ciel, un dos de dragon endormi sous les rafales. Ici, le vent ne caresse pas : il frotte, il râpe, il fouette. Il sculpte les cimes, emporte les pensées trop lourdes et laisse, dans son sillage, un silence tranchant comme un éclat de schiste. Sur ces crêtes, on avance plié sous l’assaut des bourrasques, en équilibre sur une ligne de fuite où chaque pas rappelle que la nature n’a que faire de nos hésitations. Les sentiers du Tanargue ne mènent nulle part. Ils invitent à l'errance. Ils obligent à ralentir, à prendre le temps d’épouser la cadence des nuages qui courent sur les crêtes. Parfois, une accalmie dévoile l’infini. Vers le sud, les Cévennes ondulent comme une mer figée. Vers le nord, le Vivarais déploie ses replis d’ombre et de lumière. Entre les deux, le Tanargue règne, indifférent aux âmes qui le traversent. Il faut venir ici pour éprouver le temps dans sa forme la plus brute, pour sentir la morsure du granit sous la paume, pour écouter le cri des milans fendre l’azur. La nuit, les étoiles s’ébrouent comme une volée d’étincelles sur l’enclume du ciel. Le vent, lui, ne dort jamais. Il tourne autour des crêtes, chuchote aux pierres des histoires de jadis, berce la montagne d’un souffle venu d’un autre âge. Le Tanargue n’accueille pas. Il jauge.
