There’s still a chance that #MarathonTheGame doesn’t gel with me, but I loved this short film Bungie released at the end of the gameplay reveal event.

It’s got surprising levels of pathos and spunk for a game about shooting and looting in a destroyed futuristic colony. And it has some really intriguing lore bits and dates that seem to take place during and after the original Marathon’s timeline.

Check out this piece of art, directed by Alberto Mielgo, who also worked on many episodes of Love, Death & Robots. I love the eerie, but intriguing at the same time atmosphere, that the oversaturated and surreal art style creates.

As someone who has not enjoyed games like Apex Legends, I was very wary going into this #MarathonTheGame showcase. Was thinking it might be my first Bungie game I would not play since I started playing games.

Their presentation turned my opinion around. The PvE aspects, the loadouts you can fall back on if runs go bad, and that story trailer all felt really good.

I find my self actually excited by rather than unhappy with with what I saw.
