I saw on #ITV news website an "ICE" style #police raid (with guns, cops with minimal uniform items wearing protective masks etc).

The difference however was suspect was being nicked for having thrown corrosive acid in the face of his rival - officers were wearing masks (like WW2 gasmasks!) to protect against chemicals (they were soon joined by obvious uniformed backup)

as we don't have so many guns here, corrosives and knives are a big problem (and have been for centuries)
