A late roll on Sunday night made it one full month of #InlineSkating in #NYC every day, totaling 789 miles =1270 km.

AFAIK, I have never before skated more than seven days in a row, which occurred during Xmas week of 2020, when my sister and her BF decided I was nuts. (TBH, that was some week.)

Also, just passed the 5000-mile mark on the #Rollerblade Revv BOA boots on Striker II frames.

This is life when you're WFH again and sick of looking at your apt walls.

That's 27 days of #InlineSkating in a row and whoa am I feeling it. Skated earlier than usual Wednesday due to the weather forecast, so the legs weren't really recovered from Tuesday evening yet. Lower back made its presence felt every time I went up a hill in #CentralPark. Bruise in left-quads from last week still asking for time off. And then there was the ~ 88°F temperature.

Photo is of a dad on speedskates and his two boys on plain fours whom I passed on the CP loop around 96th St.

Tough day of #InlineSkating on Sunday. It was my 24th day in a row of rolling and thigh muscles and quads are a wasteland, the temperature had warmed up (but thank goddess the humidity wasn't up), and I missed the Miraviglia passing by Valentino Pier in #RedHook by maybe 15 minutes even though I got there just before cruisemapper said she was supposed to sail.

Later on, I found the Breakaway docked at the Manhattan terminal an hour-plus after cruisemapper said she was supposed to depart.

Big Apple Roll is over, and by all accounts it was a great success. Weather only messed with the Thursday night skate, and was beautiful for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday skates. The crowd attending the Friday Night Skate may well have been the biggest #GroupSkate in #NYC since the MS Super Roll was held so very long ago, and after it was over a large chunk of skaters headed over to Pier 76.

Big big turnout for Empire's Big Apple Roll Friday Night Skate on 8/1, led by the incomparable Sarai. At least 600 participants that we were able to count, and we've read reports of 650 (at least 100 of whom were recording their activity on Strava, of course).

Big representation from Miami wearing matching garb, but we also saw club gear from Boston, DC. Houston, LA, Long Beach, and Portland (OR).

After a big NYC Wednesday Night Skate, the 2025 Big Apple Roll #GroupSkate weekend officially kicked off this morning with a crowd of 100 or more skating from Times Square to Rockaway Beach.

Sadly not much time to enjoy the beach as storms rolled in. Although the rain should be over and one before the planned Thursday evening skate, streets look to be too wet and slick except for the adventurous. We'll see.

I've been out #InlineSkating 13 days in a row, which is a record for me, by 6 days. So maybe I'm feeling good about my health? I should quit complaining about aging effects etc?

No, I'm 'cruising' up the WSBP late Wed night doing about 13 MPH and someone much younger than I am passes by. He's skating backwards. Oh, FFS!

Friday evening was a tough roll #InlineSkating #NYC due to, 'The Return of the Humidity'. But as the clock approached the witching hour, we took a side-roll off the WSBP onto Pier 76, and whoa, so many skaters! There was Smiley and Zane and O and Jason and Jackie, and another dozen or more whose names we don't know yet.

Hey, skate peeps. We know many of you (like us) were out rolling in Saturday's warm, humid weather. Good for you. (Long look over at those peeps who did the skate-my-age roll with a dude who turned 65! You weirdos.)

But the heatwave is now here, and it's time to take a few days off. We'll skate with you on the other side.
