I appreciate Idaho Reports, but the coverage of our Proposition 1 was a dog's breakfast. And then Brent Crane lecturing us that honesty and integrity are important, after he's told us the R- controlled #idleg will overturn the initiative if the people approve it?

He's a real piece of work.

@GottaLaff That "single subject" requirement is being heavily gamed in Idaho. The #idleg used an egg-laying woolly milk pig for a going-home expedient at the end of this session, and the R super-majority was all wink wink nudge nudgey. Now our AG is suing to stop a citizen initiative for open primaries with a cocked up claim it violates the rule.

The Idaho VETO watch is in its final days of this #idleg session. Still nothing on the tab, with 40 bills showing "To Gov". Sent emails asking Gov to veto 3 particularly egregious bills, got a boilerplate reply dated Apr 9:

"My office generally does not comment on legislation that is going through the legislative process until it gets to my desk. I recommend you reach out to your state legislators to express your concerns to them"

Clumsy, to the point of rude.

Once again, high hopes that the #idleg would leave town are dashed. Sparked by Phil Hart, of all people, "pointing out that he is both a North Idaho resident and a former University of Utah student-athlete" but not mentioning he's also a convicted timber thief.

His was the lone "no" vote in a Senate resolution denouncing racism and hate speech. He complained he didn't have enough facts. (And of course he couldn't trust any of his fellow senators.)

Idaho Education News · At the Statehouse, a week marked by debates over diversity and racismIssues of race and diversity were woven through the 12th week of the 2024 legislative session. Here’s how it all unfolded.

Again our Legislators are wasting time and money on ridiculous proposals. Add to this are the topics of cannibalism, changing scientific names of fetuses, attacking libraries, repealing Medicaid expansion, allowing private militias, banning mask mandates, removing exceptions for rape, carry concealed weapons at schools as well as being immune from prosecution, and worst of all, subsidies for private schools. Did they forget our schools are literally crumbling? #idaholife #idpol #idleg
