Did a quick trip up to Perth for a couple of days for a conference. Very fun but also very exhausting. Took the bus and it was OK – the plus side is I could work on my paper and didn't have to worry about traffic. The con was having to leave at set times, which proved a bit annoying.... on the way there I couldn't leave until 3pm so I didn't get to Perth until 9. And on the way back, Kid1 was supposed to be travelling with me but there were railworks on the train line he was using and he missed the bus so I had to reschedule him for later in the week. Bah.

In Perth itself, the public transport was excellent (the inconvenient train issue this morning notwithstanding). The conference was super interesting, inspiring and motivating. Got to see my old supervisor (he gave me a hug) and my current supervisor (he did not hug me but we are not on hugging terms; it would have been weird). We all had a great chat.

Food was delicious, company was lovely. It's only 9.30pm but I'm so tired I can barely keep my eyes open. Back to work tomorrow.

I'm delighted to have some wonderful raw material to edit into pictures; from a fortnight in Japan

I've uploaded 2448 jpegs from my Lumix FZ2000 panasonic.com/uk/consumer/came

what a camera! and what a marvellous set of technologies digital photography is in the 2020s

In the age of film, that number of pictorial opportunities would have meant 68 36-exposure 35-millimetre film cassettes

that's two thirds of a bucketful
