I went for a walk from Holystone and eventually found the small section of Roman road uncovered by archeological excavations. It's at 55.309691,-2.102539 if anyone is interested. I went here a couple of months ago with a u3a natural history group but last time I visited I couldn't see where we had turned off.

Here's a local news article about the dig: https://www.northumberlandgazette.co.uk/news/people/archaeological-dig-in-rural-northumberland-given-the-go-ahead-thanks-to-grant-3403581

The gap between #HolyStone’s top end #drone and #DJI’s bottom end drone is massive.

First hover of the #Mini3 (they apparently stopped calling it Mavic Mini some time ago) was locked in and uneventful. Everything worked as expected.

So I ran the first mission: photographs of my chimney box on my roof. And it was a boring success!

It’s nice when everything Just Works (tm).

Update on the #HolyStone #drone :

It's no longer airworthy. I got 2 pictures of my chimney and it decided to fly off into the neighbor's house.

Propellers are broken. It came with spares. But the main body is also damaged at an arm joint.

What an expensive and dangerous piece of shit.

Neighbor wasn't mad at me at least.

So I took the #HolyStone #HS720R up. I planned to keep it simple. Light flying, hover, systems check, etc.

Boy is this #drone dangerous.

I wish that was a commentary as competition against the expensive ones, but no. It's literally dangerous. I sent my dogs back inside to protect them from further testing.

This is a MSRP $400 drone. I only spent $270. It's not even worth that.

If this is their top of the line, avoid this brand _entirely_.

Took a bit of effort but I managed to get things charging. Apparently neither the USB-C chargeable battery nor controller will trigger on a PD charger with a full USB-C cable. So they're not fully USB-C compliant.

This is the kind of thing that will cause confusion with users… And bad reviews.
