La mesure directe de la lumière émise a permis de déterminer la composition de son <a href="https://astrodon.social/tags/atmosphere" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>atmosphere</span></a> ainsi que la vitesse à laquelle elle décrit son orbite autour de son étoile hôte. Il est ainsi apparu que cette exoplanète était similaire à <a href="https://astrodon.social/tags/Jupiter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Jupiter</span></a> dans notre Système Solaire.</p><p>AF Lep b n’est que la première cible du relevé HiRISE commencé en 2023. D’ici quelques années, toutes les planètes géantes connues en imagerie auront été observées avec HiRISE, ce qui permettra de tester de manière statistique les liens entre composition, vitesse de rotation et mode de formation.
