We are hosting the 10th iteration (I forgot to toot about the previous one) of our Brussels #Nix / #NixOS / #Guix User Group Meetup next Friday, March 28th, at @HSBXL!

The lightning talks planned so far are:
- Local DNS server with CoreDNS by Hugo
- Self-hosting a Mastodon instance by @xavier and myself :)

Want #cloudnative but with the power of #declarative configuration? The recoverability of #transactions for system configuration?

Wednesday it's the online #guix meet-up! With a great talk by @paulbutgold
about running docker / oci containers using the Guix configuration system.

His Gocix project has #prometheus, #grafana, #forgejo, #conduit and #traefik examples.

Meet-up details:

Is there anyplace where you are keeping a tally of the #MNTReform variants shipped in the wild?

I wondered about that a lot recently, when working on support in #Guix ... but only for the most part able to test on a MNT/Reform2 rk3588. It would also help give a sense of which platforms to even attempt to support.

A precise total would be awesome, but even rough numbers would sate my curiosity!

It's double #GuixSocial absolute fun this week! #SaveTheDate

- Wed 26th March 6pm GMT: remote event with a *fantastic* talk (details to be revealed soon!)

- Fri 28th March 6pm GMT: in-person event in #London (EC4A 4AB). Join us for an evening of #Guix, #Guile, and Free Software hacking and chit-chat. Bring your own device if you fancy demoing something or for some hands-on hacking.

i used #guix in a vm and what can i say, i think i will stick to nixos. i just like nix more(i have no background in any lisp-family languages). and i dislike the "all free" software policy, i want my package manager to be free and let me download anything i want even if it's proprietary

I recently converted an old Acer Travelmate 5744 to #guix and found the same difficulty in halting/rebooting I found with Debian 12 and kernel 6.1. The laptop tends to simply reboot instead of powering off or hanging forever. Do you have any ideas or suggestions? I could impute that to an ACPI issue, but I have no idea of possible source of such kind of regression...

Just added jless, a nice command-line JSON viewer, to #guix .

The upstream is github.com/PaulJuliusMartinez/ - and it has a very cute, shiny logo!

Thanks to the contributor for sending the patch in. Committed it to the #rust team branch.

First commits to that branch, so hopefully didn't mess anything up!
