“We’re stepping into the most pro-growth, pro-business, pro-American administration I’ve perhaps seen in my adult lifetime,” gushed the hedge fund manager Bill Ackman in December...

“You don’t get fired for being bullish, but you do get fired for being bearish on Wall Street,” said Berezin.

- I agree that:
- the fundamental question might be of almost existential importance to organised groups, and humans who wish to form and maintain them.
- finding common ground is essential, as is nurturing empathy in all parties.

- I sumbit that:
- enquiring minds might enjoy examining the findings (or what we might divine of them, for such firms, if they have any sense, have long since obfuscated their work) of Cambridge Analytica and their ilk: research.bangor.ac.uk/portal/f although please note that state-of-the-art circa 10 years ago may now be old hat.
- theologans are a fine source of information regarding tried-and-tested methods of creating inclusive "in-groups".
- lesser groups that depend upon cohesive thinking like cults, militaries, resistance or political groups, corporate entities, and so forth, are all worthy of consideration too. The real nuggets of gold are finding the "happy-clappy" groups that manage to absorb & bestow happiness upon their adversaries. Not sure where one finds such groups though (outside mathstodon.xyz obviously).

- I'd love to know if anyone has come across any "threads" that are interesting to pull at, or salient web-search terms that are a good start, in reading about such things.
- I'd be curious to know how folks (eg in NATO, CCP, etc) taking high-level geopolitical perspectives might view this problem.

I sometimes wonder if the #socialmedia experiment is doomed to degenerate into #echochambers and #groupthink. It inherently is a popularity contest which incentivizes appealing to the widest possible audience and pursuing #followers without regards to content. I have never used #facebook or #twitter but I thought the #fediverse might be different because it is not profit motivated, but #mastodon has similar problems. Communication methods like email or forums don't have this problem.

#StreetGangs / Street Gangs
#MobMentality / Mob Mentality
#GroupThink / Group Think
#OrganizedReligion / Organized Religion / STREET GANGS!
#PoliticalParties / Political Parties / STREET GANGS!

These are the things people rarely escape. Even when #SurkovAndPutin won heats and minds of USA political parties to support Russia, people still don't LEAVE their Political Parties! They stick with them even when the enemy has captured the symbol, captured the flag symbol, they still follow the signs!

Folks who aren't #organizers, you may not realize this but being "easy" is absolutely the most frustrating thing you can possibly do if someone is trying to make plans with you.

"Oh I'm easy, I can do whatever" NO.
"What does Stacey want to do" STOP IT.
"I really don't care, I'm up for anything" I HATE YOU.

These answers are not kind and they are not helpful. They're not even true!

You might swear you're genuinely impossible to displease and have no strong feelings but all that means is you have a strong feeling that you'd rather infuriate the organizer then do any evaluation.

Every single Oh, whatever answer makes the organizer's job harder, not easier, because it does nothing to remove options and worse, we kind of don't believe you because people lie about being easy ALL THE TIME.

Typically, we find out when said person gets super annoyed that previous flexible plans are now concrete and they can't have what they actually secretly wanted.
