Out of curiosity 2 weeks ago I asked the question of eligibility to the local GS9 club when buying the model exclusively sold at Studio Shizukuichi Japan. In theory one can only be eligible if one buys from a local AD or boutique but they were willing to make an exception in my case since it cannot be bought anywhere else in the world. And today they kept their words and approved my application. I am not sure what membership entails yet though 😁. #GrandSeiko #watches #watchesofmastodon

I tried swapping the leather straps and the bracelet between the #GrandSeiko SBGJ201 and SBGH339, just to confirm that they are compatible. They indeed are. Will I keep it that way? Not really. I spent a while choosing the leather straps in Studio Shizukuichi and I stand by the same opinion I have had since then: brown leather fits the dark green dial better than a shiny grey bracelet . #watches #watchesofmastodon

More pics from the tour of #GrandSeiko’s Studio Shizukuichi. We were not allowed to film the watchmakers but we did see them at work through a series of windows allowing to peek into their routine and their desks. I must say they seemed like very precise people and have very very good tools. #watches #watchesofmastodon

I visited #GrandSeiko’s Studio Shizukuichi and had a great time 😁. Building designed by Kengo Kuma is beautiful, tour is interesting for both beginners and nerds, and staff are extremely helpful. They split between groups of Japanese people and English-speaking people. The latter is usually less crowded, so if you come from overseas, it is likely you get a tour guide almost to yourself. We were 3 today. Everyone gets a small gift too at the end. #watches #watchesofmastodon

After much deliberation, the SBGE285 aka Mistflake is not going to come with me on my trip to #Japan. It makes more sense to bring only one watch and it makes even more sense that this watch should be the SBGJ201 aka Mt Iwate instead:
- I am visiting #GrandSeiko’s Studio Shizukuichi near Mt Iwate where it was literally made
- I want to travel lightly this time and it is a GMT too that does all what I need
- There is a very high likelihood I get more #watches over there

I am still in the middle of planning my trip to #Japan next week but all I am thinking about is the food instead of the sightseeing 😂. The trusty #GrandSeiko Mistflake is already set to be my companion this time but I am wondering if I should bring another watch too. Not sure if I should as I might do some #watches shopping over there anyway. #watchesofmastodon

When I was in Paris a few months ago, I had the opportunity to try a few #GrandSeiko #watches. I already talked about the SBGW321 aka Nishikigoi (mastodon.online/@ppn/113861586). But there were actually a few others too that I didn’t talk about: the SLGA025 aka Atera Valley, the SBGA413 aka Shunbun, the SLGH021 aka Genbi Valley and the SBGH357 aka Autumn Twilight. I also like those but they don’t really fit my current collection. Maybe someday but not now. #watchesofmastodon
